Did you know the temperatures in Cuttack touched a high of 34 degrees Celsius?
That’s quite unbearable for shelterless fans who are thrilled to witness an international game in their city.
We’re referring to the second ODI between India and England in Barabati Stadium (Cuttack), on Sunday the 9th of February.

So, what exactly happened to the fans? How did they even cope with the intense heat?
Easy Peasy.
The Barabati Stadium’s organizers sprinkled water over them (‘em fans) courtesy of water sprinklers.

A rare act of “compassion”, right? Kudos to them.
Actually, a lack of a roof is a common problem for fans in the vast majority of tier-2 cricket stadiums. Which, you guessed right, leaves enthusiastic fans vulnerable to extreme weather conditions, including higher temperatures.
But you’ll agree with me that the Cuttack management killed it here. A kind gesture we’d call it, and so should you. 😉
Goes without saying while the fans were thrilled by the game, they were equally satisfied by the kind gesture of the stadium management.

Gamewise, you want to know that England opted to bat first, an action that saw them enjoy a beautiful start.
That’s all thanks to Ben Ducket and Phil Salt, a duo that actually put on a whopping 81 runs for the opening wicket alone (in 10.5 overs).
At the end of the 31st over, England were 176/3 thanks to the splendid strikes of Jos Buttler and Joe Root.
